The side leg lift is a great exercise to strengthen our underutilized and overlooked gluteal muscles if performed correctly. Unfortunately, I often see it done poorly. Our sneaky thigh and hip flexor muscles want to run the show because that's what they have been trained to do in many of us. In the video below I will show you a few simple tweaks that will help you start feeling the work in the right place and get the desired result out of the exercise.
